Olive Green granite: olive-toned charnockite from South Africa
Olive Green granite is a distinctive natural stone quarried in Springbok, Namaqualand, in the Northern Cape of South Africa. Geologically it is a greenish-grey gneiss, or charnockite, composed of quartz, feldspar, biotite and pyroxene. Its colour ranges from olive to dark green, accented by black, brown and grey speckles and flowing bands that give each slab its own character. The degree of banding depends on the alternation of light and dark mineral layers, so no two slabs are exactly alike, and the cut direction further influences the pattern. A polished finish brings out the depth and luster of the colours, lending a refined look to any surface. Strong and durable, with good resistance to heat, scratches and impact, Olive Green is well suited to kitchen worktops, vanity tops, flooring, wall cladding, and outdoor applications such as garden paths and patios, in both residential and commercial projects.
