Noce: Turkish Compact Travertine
Noce is a light-brown to beige compact travertine quarried in Turkey, characterised by a subtle cloud-like structure formed by the natural decomposition of small twigs and leaves within the stone. This crosscut variant shows the pore pattern as soft, irregular cloud shapes spread across the surface, giving each slab a quiet, organic character. Its warm, slightly darker tone sets Noce apart from its Italian counterpart Pietra Bicci, while sharing the same geological family. The earthy, walnut-tinted palette makes Noce equally suited to rustic, Mediterranean, and contemporary architecture, and it brings a grounded warmth to both indoor and outdoor applications.
For a more linear, graphic appearance, the same stone is also available as Noce veincut, cut perpendicular to the sedimentary layers. Standard finishes include arenado and diamante, with other finishes available on demand.
Indoor flooring, stairs and wall cladding are typically installed filled, with pores closed using adapted grout for a smooth, even surface, though unfilled is equally possible for a more textured, natural look. For outdoor applications, pores are left unfilled to allow drainage and to preserve the natural open texture. Fossils may be present throughout the material.
