Shivakasi Ivory: South Indian Granite with Character
Shivakasi Ivory is a South Indian granite with a beige background, streaked with orange-brown and burgundy-coloured mineral concentrations. These mineral concentrations, together with occasional dark veins, give each slab its own natural character. Colour and structure vary from block to block, and even within a single slab, which is inherent to this type of natural stone.
Thanks to this heterogeneous structure, any small rust spots caused by the oxidation of iron-bearing minerals are visually less noticeable than on plainer, lighter granites. Shivakasi Ivory is mainly suited for indoor applications.
The material is naturally somewhat porous and must be impregnated when used in kitchens or bathrooms. Polished slabs are typically resined during production, which enhances the polish and fills fine pores and hairline cracks.
Available in a letano and polished finish, both retaining the stone's natural, varied character.
