    Silver Pearl®, the silver larvikite from Norway

    Silver Pearl® is a coarse-grained larvikite from the Larvik region in southern Norway, a rare alkaline plutonic rock that crystallised roughly 290 to 300 million years ago during the formation of the Oslo Graben. The stone is built up from large rhomb-shaped feldspar crystals that produce a distinctive grey, pearly reflection. This iridescence is not pigment-based, but the result of light refracting between extremely thin alternating layers of orthoclase and oligoklaas inside the crystals. Compared to Blue Pearl® or Emerald Pearl®, Silver Pearl® reads as a calmer, more neutral stone, with large pearls set in a consistent silver-grey background.

    Brachot's own quarry at Haakestad

    Brachot quarries Silver Pearl® granite at Haakestad, near Larvik, in our Family Member Larvik Granite's quarry #5. Haakestad is the largest of our six Larvik Granite quarries and our highest-volume operation in Norway. There is a stable and continuous production giving us the unique ability to format blocks according to customer demand. The Silver Pearl quarry #5 produces blocks in large sizes and in uniform colour. The quarry operates primarily as a block-export site, with full vertical control from extraction to finished product.

    Applications

    Silver Pearl® is suitable for both interior and exterior use. Typical applications include kitchen worktops, indoor flooring, wall cladding, façade cladding, bathrooms, paving, indoor and outdoor window sills, decorative work and gravestones. The standard finish is polished, which brings out the silver reflection at its most intense.
