Stargate Granite – Black Granite with Silver Crystals

Stargate is a black granite with a coarse-grained structure, quarried in Mount Darwin, Zimbabwe. Petrographically, the stone belongs to the magmatic, intrusive rocks (gabbro, EN 12670). Fine silver-coloured crystals are scattered throughout the black mass, giving the surface a subtle sparkling effect.

As with any natural product, veins and mineral concentrations may occur, including localised clusters of the silver-coloured minerals that create a "cloud structure". This is inherent to the formation of the stone and does not constitute a technical defect.

With a hardness of 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, low porosity and water absorption, and excellent flexural and compressive strength, Stargate is frost resistant and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications: kitchen worktops, flooring, wall cladding, facade cladding, patios, paving, stairs and swimming pool cladding. The most common finish is polished.

    Why Stargate?

    • Fine silver-coloured crystals create a subtle sparkling effect
    • Low porosity and water absorption
    • Frost resistant, suitable for indoor and outdoor use
    • High flexural and compressive strength
