TARN FIN GRAIN

  • Description:White to white-grey medium fine grained granite with uniform speckled appearance. Sometimes, black mineral concentrations may appear due to the geological formation.
    Origin:France
    Material category:Granite

    Finishes

    2/2 selected
Flamed: The temperature shock after flaming the tile leads to natural cracking on the surface. This gives the natural stone a rough texture. Ideal for outdoor applications thanks to its anti-slip properties.
Polished: The shiniest and smoothest finish by far, which presents the colours, veins and fossil structures at their most visible and intense. A mirror effect is created in dark shades.

    Local production of French granites

At Granitarn, you are right at the source. Tarn blocks are extracted from our own quarries in a sustainable and responsible manner, then processed into slabs, tiles, and products for urban development and monument construction.

Tarn is a dense, low-porosity French natural stone with proven technical performance. With a porosity of just 0.2–0.4% and water absorption of 0.1–0.2%, it is among the most compact granites available — significantly lower than comparable Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese granites. This directly limits water and dirt penetration, reduces the risk of staining or yellowing, and cuts cleaning frequency in public spaces. Combined with a compressive strength of over 190 MPa and frost resistance exceeding 240 freeze-thaw cycles, Tarn qualifies for the highest user class for urban paving.

Granitarn extracts Tarn granite from its own quarries in the Sidobre Massif, offering three varieties: Tarn Royal, Tarn Fin Grain and Tarn Gros Grain. Each derives its hardness and structural integrity from the massif's geological composition, making them a reliable choice for high-traffic public spaces, large-scale architectural applications, and monument work.

Built to Last: The Strength of Tarn Granite

    • Recyclable, extremely hard and resistant
    • Excellent frost resistance withstanding more than 240 cycles
    • Compressive strength exceeding 190 MPa, nearly twice the standard for class 6 paving stones (EN 1342)
    • Abrasion-resistant finishes for areas of high traffic density
    • Local production, central location, reduces CO₂ emissions
