Moca A Passe Extra: An Even Limestone with a Clouded Character
Moca A Passe Extra is an oolitic limestone with a light beige, clouded pattern and subtle light grey speckling. The stone comes from the same quarry as Moca Contre Passe Extra, but is sawn parallel to the bedding, or "à passe". This produces the clouded structure visible on the surface of the slabs, unlike Moca Contre Passe Extra, which is sawn perpendicular to the bedding and shows a more streaked pattern. The "Extra" designation indicates a finer grain structure within the range.
Natural variations in colour and structure can occur, even within a single slab, usually appearing as rounded zones with a finer grain. In Moca A Passe Extra, the structure is ideally as even as possible across the whole slab surface: slabs where one side is noticeably more clouded than the other are considered less successful aesthetically. This carries no technical disadvantage.
Within the Brachot range, Moca Creme is always selected for its fine-grained types. Coarser variants exist on the market but are not selected for the Brachot range.
Moca A Passe Extra is sensitive to moisture: excessive use of water during maintenance should be avoided, and impregnation is strongly recommended in humid or stain-sensitive areas.
