Raja Black: Indian Limestone with A Distinctive Black-grey Texture
Raja Black is a fine-grained sedimentary limestone from India with a black base colour. Grey-white spots are visible on the surface, a characteristic feature of the material, along with colour nuances that can occur even within a single batch. This natural variation makes every tile, cobblestone or kerbstone unique.
In appearance, Raja Black closely resembles Noir d'Orient, but the stone is considerably stronger. The surface is also rougher: the larger the tile size, the coarser the texture. Slight discolouration may occur when exposed to rain.
The extraction of Raja Black can best be compared to slate quarrying, but on a far larger scale. In the region around Chitor, India, this stone has been used for centuries as a building material for important historical structures.
Brachot supplies Raja Black as cobblestones, tiles and kerbstones. Please refer to the technical data sheet for full specifications.
